The Wilmington Public Library offers a variety of services for teachers, homeschooling groups, daycare workers, Scout leaders, and others who work with youth. Phone or email the library for more information.
Professional Card
The Professional Card allows a teacher to check out books for five weeks with one renewal if no requests. No late fees are charged on this card, but the cardholder is responsible for any lost or damaged materials. This card may not be used for personal use such as checking out DVDs, Blu-Rays, or 14-day items.
Teacher Collection Requests
A teacher may request a collection for his/her classroom or homeschool. Requests may be made by topics or specific titles using the appropriate request form below.
Please allow one-two weeks for the collection to be prepared. If books must be ordered through interlibrary loan, please allow up to four weeks. When the collection is ready for pick-up, an email or phone message will be sent. Collections must be picked up within seven days. The collection will be bagged and checked out in advance. Please bring your photo ID to the circulation desk to pick up your collection.

Library Tours
Youth Services staff members are available for tours and programs by appointment. Options may include a storytime and craft or a tour of the facility and an explanation of how to use the online catalog. Other types of tours or programs are available by request. Two weeks’ notice is required to schedule a tour and program.
Classroom Visits
Youth Services staff members can visit your classroom or meeting to present programs. Programs may include talking about the library, reading or telling stories, and presenting book talks. These programs may be on a certain author or topic and may be fiction or nonfiction. Call or email the library to set up a visit.
Research Projects
Reference staff members are available to assist with research and science fair projects. A variety of research materials and books on science fair projects are available to help students find the information they need to succeed. Public computers are available to use for research. Minors must have parental permission to use the computers. Please inquire at the reference desk for assistance.
Homeschool Enrichment
We’d love to help you enrich your Homeschool Curriculum! You can request books on a certain topic by using the WPL Teacher Collection Form (please allow one-two weeks for the collection to be prepared). You can also call or email the library to set up a tour or inquire about other programs, or ways we can assist you. Homeschool families are also eligible to get a professional card, just bring your photo ID and proof of homeschooling status. Also, be sure to check out our Homeschool Resources page!
